ARTIST BIO
Rita Wilmers is an artist working in watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, and pen and ink. She also designs and creates dichroic glass pendants. Her works have been exhibited in several solo shows in galleries and other venues in the tri-state area. She has been an "Artist in Residence" at the National Art League and the subject of articles in major New York City newspapers.
Highlights of her career include having over two dozen of her works featured in two episodes of the hit TV series "Gossip Girl" and having several works included in an international exhibition of contempory artists in the Jinzhijian Museum of Art in Beijing, China. Manhattan Theatre Source selected the painting "Leap of Faith" as a promotional piece for an Estrogenius festival, and also used the painting as the cover for a published book of plays.
In 2016, Ms. Wilmers published the book "Jacob's Journey," which incorporates a series of paintings created over a seven-year period together with a story in prose and poetry.
Currently she is part of an art cooperative, "The Art Loft," working in her studio space in Port Washington, New York.
